Thank you for your interest in Portland Adult and Community Education! PACE  is located at 1090 Ionia Road, in front of Portland High School.  For further information or to receive a brochure, call 517-647-2987.  We appreciate your time in inquiring about our programs and services.  Each year Community Education strives to provide new services and classes to area residents including:

Alternative Education offers youth, 15 to 19 years old, the opportunity to earn a Portland High School diploma as well as improve basic skills. Students are offered a smaller classroom setting and individualized attention.  Mornings and evening classes are available and are free of charge to those who do not have a high school diploma.  Out of district students are welcome.

Adult High School Completion offers students a second chance to earn a high school diploma. HSC classes are free to those who do not have a high school diploma.  Portland is one of the few districts to still operate an Adult Education program where adults over 20 can earn a high school diploma.

Dual Enrollment allows students who are enrolled in traditional day school to make up credits needed to meet their graduation requirements.  Out of district students are welcomed pending appropriate permission.  There is a minimal class fee.

Portland Community Education is a Lansing Community College extension center.  Registration and classes are held in Portland High School.  Students enjoy earning college credits right in their own community.  Several benefits include free parking, shorter driving distances, and no long registration lines.  Requests for courses you would like to see offered are always welcome.  Course catalogs and financial aid information is available.

Enrichment classes provide many recreational and informative opportunities for people of all ages.  A wide variety of classes and activities are offered along with continual development of new courses.  Many Portland area residents have enjoyed learning a new hobby or skill.  If you have a special talent or hobby you would like to share with others, please feel free to contact our office.

Summer Programs are also available.  Academic courses allow students to earn high school credits in a condensed course.  Math and Reading programs are available for elementary students.   Lansing Community College courses and enrichment classes for all ages are also offered.

Facility Usage is also coordinated through Community Education.  High school and elementary classrooms as well as elementary gymnasiums are scheduled for after school and weekend use.
