Playground safety is assured when students:
1. show respect for others and follow
instructions given by staff.
2. stay outside in the morning before
school and noontime unless they have a “pass”.
3. play only on playground areas.
4. stay away from puddles and mud.
5. refrain from playing rough on the
playground.
6. leave rocks, bark, sticks, and
other dangerous objects alone.
7. take turns on equipment.
8. swing properly on swings (back and
forth only)
9. play tag on the ground only, not
the equipment.
10. do not jump off the equipment.
11. use the slide feet first
only.
12. leave toy knives, guns and other
unsafe objects at home.
13. show pride in their school by
keeping the building and grounds free of litter.
14. settle differences peacefully.
Use the DEBUG system.
15. do not eat, or chew gum on the
playground.
16. do not leave the playground for
any reason without a pass from the supervisor.
17. stop what they are doing when the
whistle blows and line up quickly.
Consequences
(Any of the following may occur based on the severity of the
infraction)
•
Verbal reprimand
•
Redirection (have the child do it the right way)
•
Have the child stand in place for 30-60 seconds
•
Time out against the wall for one minute/Time out for five
minutes
•
Have the child stay with the supervisor for one or two minutes
•
Office referral/parent contact
