Today’s channel one meeting: Channel one
meetings for today are for freshman and sophomores going out for
softball will meet in the drop in lab and all girls going out
for tennis need to meet in the cafeteria.
Juniors’, Taking the MME “in good faith” is
required for graduation. You need to be AT the testing rooms by
7:30. Being late may jeopardize your ability to take the MME.
Bring only a #2 pencil, an approved calculator (see
www.actstudent.org if you have questions about your calculator),
and photo ID to the testing room (see Mrs. Zubal if there is an
ID problem). No food, no drinks, no cell phones are allowed. Get
a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast before coming to school
on testing days.
Attention HIT students- there is no HIT this
week. If you have questions regarding your testing or what time
you need to report each day, ask in the office.
City Hall is looking for student volunteers to
serve on a focus group discussing student volunteerism on March
24 and 25. If you are interested, please contact Patrick at the
Portland City Hall.
The boy’s golf team will have a team meeting
next Monday, 3/15/10 after school. Listen to Friday’s
announcements for the time & place.
All freshman, JV and Varsity boy’s basketball
players: Basketball Banquet Reservation Forms are due by Monday,
March 15. Reservation forms can be turned in at the athletic
office to Mrs. Garlitch. Basketball Banquet is on Tuesday, March
23rd at the KC Hall at 6:00 p.m.
All freshman and JV boy’s basketball players
need to have their team room locker cleaned out by this Friday,
March 12. Current locker combinations will be changed on Monday,
March 15th for spring sports teams.
NHS would like to thank everyone who helped to
make the blood drive such a success this year. We had 72
presenting donors and would have had more had we not run out of
time. We collected 66 units with four people giving double red,
enabling the Red Cross to help save up to 198 lives.
Stephanie Lay, Jared Moyer, Chelsea Platte and
Brian Schneider need to see Mrs. Fedewa at this time.
The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team won its 4th
consecutive District Title on Friday with a hard fought 36-33
win over Haslett. Leading scorers for the Raiders were Sierra
Riker with 9 points Sarah Trierweiler added 8 points. Kelsey
Spitzley and Kelsey Blake both had big 4th quarter baskets for
the Raiders to maintain their lead. Next game is Tuesday at
Milan High School. There will be a Fan Bus heading to the Girls’
Basketball Regional on Tuesday. $10.00 gets you a ticket and a
ride to and from Milan to attend the Girls’ Basketball
Semi-Final game. Sign-up is in the Athletic office today.
Three Raider wrestlers were at the Palace this
weekend for the Individual State Finals. Kevin Zimmerman was one
match from placing with a 1-2 record. Trevor Maus won twice to
claim All-State honors with his 8th place finish in one of the
toughest brackets at the tournament. Justin Pung won his first
three matches to make it to the finals. He finished as a
runner-up at the 171 pound weight class. Congratulations guys!!
