6 Trait Writing      

The First Three Traits:

 

Trait 1 - Ideas:

This is the content, or main theme., of the writing.  This can be looked at as the heart of the message.

 

 

Trait 2 - Organization:

This can be looked at as the internal structure of the writing.

 

 

Trait 3 - Voice:

This is the personal voice of author coming through. This gives a sense of a real person speaking.

 

 

 

 

The Second Three Traits:

 

Trait 4 - Word Choice:

This is the use of precise, colorful and rich words to communicate.

 

 

Trait 5 - Sentence Fluency:

This is writing that flows together often with a rhythm or cadence.

 

 

Trait 6 - Conventions:

This is the mechanical correctness, including spelling and grammar.
