Latchkey and Summer Adventure Camp

Enrollment for 2021-2022 Half-Day Latchkey is Open 

Use this form to apply for Half-Day Latchkey for the 2021-2022 school year. The cost per half-day is $25 per child. Half-Days begin when school ends (Oakwood approx. 12:10PM, Westwood will bus over after school lets out at 11:55AM). Half-Day care ends at 6 P.M. sharp.
This form is an application only and does not necessarily guarantee your student a place in the program. You will know by September 24th if your child has a spot in our Half-Day program. You will receive an email through the email you provide that states whether you have a spot or are on a waiting list. Some of you may receive an email for specific dates only.

The initial application period for next school year is open on April 12th for families with students currently enrolled in the Latchkey program. Registration for Portland School District residents will begin on April 26th. Open applications for all other families begins on May 10th pending space.  

Please note, filling out an application does not guarantee a spot in our Latchkey program. The number of  students we can take depends on our staff to student ratio. You will receive a notification by July to let you know if your child has a spot in our Latchkey program.

2021 Summer Adventure Camp is FULL. You may join our waitlist at the below form. 

The initial application period for camp is open on March 15th for families with students currently enrolled in the Latchkey program. Registration for Portland School District residents will begin on March 22nd. Open applications for all other families begins on March 29th pending space.  

Please note, filling out an application does not guarantee a spot in our summer adventure camp. The number of  students we can take depends on our staff to student ratio. You will receive a notification in April to let you know if your child has a spot in our summer adventure camp.

We are a licensed childcare center in the State of Michigan

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

We believe that each child is unique and has specific individual needs. It is our priority to provide a high quality program for our families!

 Our goals are:  

To provide a  safe, nurturing and relaxed environment where children feel welcome and secure.

To provide dependable childcare, at a convenient location and reasonable costs. 

To provide fun and hands on activities which encourage your child’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. 

To provide an open communication system that fosters a positive link between home and school.

SITE RATIOS

Each site is staffed with a Supervisor, Head Teacher and Teacher Aides. PPS Latchkey and the Summer Adventure Program maintain  a ratio as set forth by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services. Depending upon the planned activities, the ratio may vary. The ratio for all school-aged children is 1:18.The ratio for children 3 years of age is 1 to 10 and 4 years of age  is 1 to 12. 

 

HOURS OF OPERATION 

Oakwood and Westwood Before and After School Latchkey are both housed at Oakwood Elementary. Westwood students are  in the art room and Oakwood students are in the cafeteria. Both programs have gym and recess time at this location.

 

Before School: 6:30  – Start of School Day 

End of School Day – 6:00 P.M. 

Summer Adventure Program (Children entering Little Raider  through 5th grade): 6:30-A.M. – 6:00 P.M.

 

Rates: 

$6.00 Before School

$7.00 After School 

$21.00 Half Day (no lunch)

$26.00 Half Day (with lunch)
