Welcome to the Portland Public Schools Board of Education Webpage.

The Portland Public Schools Board of Education is a seven-member elected body responsible for setting policy, overseeing the district budget, and supporting the success of all students. Working in partnership with the Superintendent, the Board helps ensure that district decisions reflect the needs and values of the Portland community. The mission of Portland Public Schools, in collaboration with the community, is to provide a safe learning experience so each student feels empowered to meet their full potential.

The Board's work is guided by the Portland Public Schools Strategic Plan (2022–2027), which focuses on five core areas: Instructional Design, Wellness, Culture & Environment, Team Development, and Facility/Operations/Finance. These priorities reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and preparing every student for success. To keep everyone connected and informed, the district’s Communication Plan outlines how we share important updates and create space for feedback from students, families, staff, and the broader community.

Board meetings are open to the public, and we welcome your attendance and participation. We value community input and invite you to be part of the ongoing work to support excellence in Portland Public Schools.
